Sivatar: New Media Branding

3 Comments 20 December 2007

Brian over at NowSourcing had a really great post regarding the use of avatars and how it can make a huge difference is whether or not people will read your content…….

“It’s all about the avatar, baby. Don’t believe me? Well yes, content is
king, but it needs to be noticed. Your diamonds are trying to stay
afloat in the cesspool of spam, viagra, forex, and all sorts of other
trash. And yes, killer titles are also a part, but a crappy avatar can
ruin all the time and effort that went into the otherwise compelling
piece of content you’re oh so proud of.”

Brian lists 7 suggestions that will give you a compelling avatar that I think are worth taking a look at. I like his #5 suggestion: Have an attractive avatar but don’t go sexy overboard. For this very reason I like the new Sivatar site. If you haven’t heard of it, it is a great new social networking site that allows you to link to your website or blog using an avatar.

The goal of Sivatar is to get your content promoted through the various tags in this growing community. You can hop over and click those avatars that in the social media and networking categories and be directly taken to the site. Jason Falls from the Social Media Explorer blog has a Sivatar and that is precisely how I found his blog.

Brian is right, about the fact that our content trying to stay afloat in a sea of debris. We need to do all we can to promote ourselves and this surely is one creative way to do just that.

Great article. I definitely think Jason is on point about avatars - it’s a small but important way to get noticed. We at Sivatar believe that joining our community will help you with that.

Sivatar is great! I uploaded my avatar not too long ago and I am seeing more traffic to my blog. Also, it’s a great way to network and view some really cool sites! Everyone should definitely check it out
