Hey! What About a Play Date?

0 Comments 23 August 2012

You’re a mother with one or multiple kids and how you would just love an adult conversation and for your children to have more than just you to socialize with, right? Why not schedule a play date? Your child/children get to socialize with other kids and you get to have some nice mommy conversations with another adult.

So, what should you do with the kiddos? Here we have a list of fun activities that your kids will love, and mom’s will love the interaction their child gets.

Play-Doh play date, gather up all the Play-Doh in your house, cookie cutters, Play-Doh accessories and have a ball. It may be a little mess to clean up afterward, but it’ll be worth it for the kids. Play-Doh comes in all different colors, so the creations are endless. You can even make your own Play-Doh!
Homemade Play-Doh:
Measure out 1 cup of four, and pour it into the bowl.
then, measure out 1/2 cup of salt, and add that to the bowl, too.
lastly, fill the measuring cup with 1/2 cup of water and pour it into the mixing bowl.
Using a spoon, mix all the ingredients until it’s not watery or flour-y.
Add food coloring for fun colors, and viola!

Or how about a music-play date? Get together all the kid’s musical instruments or even some make-shift ones such as spoons, pots, pans, etc, and go to town. It’ll be a bit noisy, but the children love it! And hey, maybe they will grow up to be a rockstar one day and you can say you gave them their inspiration.

Kids love using their brains, so help them work that noodle and send them on an ABC scavenger hunt. Have them gather you things throughout your home, or even outside, that begin with each letter of the alphabet. Not only are they further learning their ABCs, but they’ll learn what things are, because they’ll more than likely be asking about items they find. Why not throw a spin on it and have them spell each item, or teach them to spell them.

Build an indoor fort. Children love having their own little area to go to. Build a fort out of blankets, pillows, while using chairs as supports. Allowing a child to play in their own little sanctuary will help them work their imagination, they’ll be in their own pirate ship, or in outer space, or in a jungle, or maybe their own made up land.

Another messy activity, painting. Although it’s a fairly large mess for mom to clean up, kiddos love to paint. Be sure to put some old clothes on your child, find some washable paint, tons of paper, and let them go to town. This fun activity allows your child to also express themselves through art.
