The High School Yearbook of Social Media

0 Comments 14 November 2012

What does your social media page say about you? What you post on your social networking profile reflects who you are; you are what you share. Here, we will take a look at what social networking looks like if it were your high school yearbook. What clique do you fit into?

The “quarterback” of the social world is currently Facebook. Out of the the young Americans in our country, 48% said Facbeook is where they have found out about news. There are now a total of 1.01 billion monthly active users on Facebook, which is 680 million more than just a year ago. It’s safe to say that Facebook is king of the social world.

To go along with that quarterback, we have to have the cheerleader, right? The cheerleader of the social world is Pinterest. Pinterest drives more traffic than Twitter does and only 5% of users are under the age of 18. Pinterest is largely populated with women, 80% to be exacty. Pinterest became the fastest standalone website to eclipse the 10 million per month mark ever.

There are many social networks available to be a part of out there; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Youtube, Pinterest, Yelp, Google+ and even Myspace. Where do you fit in?
