Many companies are making the move to social media to assist in handling customer service issues.  Not one to be left behind, the cable and satellite industries are also making a shift into social media networks to address customer service complaints as well as for marketing purposes.  Now, instead of waiting on hold to speak to a representative regarding things like outages, you can likely refer to the providers Facebook page or twitter feed to determine if your issue is isolated or if others are experiencing the same problems.
