In March 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a new study, estimating now that 1 in 50 children in the United States have autism. Previously, this number was 1 in 88. Some have dubbed this increase as an “autism tsunami.”

This can be very difficult for a family with an autistic child, especially because most families of autistic children earn less money than families that don’t have any health limitations.
