Work is one of the main factors that play into modern couples’ decisions to have a child, and their career decisions afterwards. How much time will you have to take off work, and how much income will you be giving up? There are several options available for mothers who either want to continue work or stay home with their child.

The Family and Medical Leave Act grants new mothers 12 weeks of unpaid leave, but that’s still only for companies with over 50 employees. About 66% of working mothers have at least a portion of their leave paid. Onsite daycares are also sometimes an option for the working mother.
