Day 3 - A Few More Steps
Well Helloooo! How are you? How are you feeling? Energized? Tired? Are you ready to “cut a rug”? (That is a saying that refers to dancing.) Ready to move forward with your Fabulous Facebook page creation?
Here is where we left off: Under “Settings“, third tab down on the left, “Post Attribution“.
“Post Attribution” is all about who you want to post as. For example, you can choose your profile name or your business name. It can be a bit confusing if your name and your business name is the same thing! But it’s ultimately up to you on how you want to set it up. Your posts, likes and comments on this Page’s timeline will be attributed to you by default. When you’re creating or replying to a post, you will still have the option to post as this Page, your Profile, or another Page you manage.
Most Social Media Marketers suggest posting as your page as often as possible. This helps build your business as well as create awareness to your brand and page. Also, if you are commenting and posting as your page then that gives others the chance to click on your page’s name and go directly to your page.
One thing to keep in mind……
You can not post to personal profiles as your business page. Rather, you can only post to other pages as your personal profile or page. Here’s what that means. If you post to someone else’s business page, you will have the option to post as your page or personal profile. If you post something to someone’s personal profile, it will not post as your business page. It will post as your personal profile. Use your Page to post on other pages as often as possible. It is a great way to gain exposure to your Page.
Let’s move on down to “Notifications”.
If you’re like me, you want to know when activity on your page starts to happen. “Notifications” is where you set up those preferences.
You won’t be able to turn off all the notifications. However, by managing them, you can at least set it up so you know when you need to respond to fans of your page.
This is what your Notifications page will look like if your business is set up as an actual Local Business or Place, a Brand or Product, a Public Figure, Cause or Community, or an Entertainment Page:
This is what your Notifications Page will look like if it is set up as a Company, Organization or Institution:
Once your Fabulous Page really starts gaining momentum you might want to scale back on the amount of notifications you receive. It can get overwhelming for larger accounts.
The next item on our list is “Page Roles”.
This is where to set up other team members so they have the ability to post on your behalf. By entering their email address, there are five “roles” to choose from:
Similarly, if you set someone up as an Admin on your page they will be able to manage all aspect of the Page. This includes: sending messages, creating ads, view insights, assign page roles and see which other admins created posts or comments.
If you set someone up as an Editor on your page, they will be able to edit the page, view insights, send messages, publish as the page, create ads and see which other admins created posts or comments.
Additionally, if you set someone up as a Moderator, they can respond to and delete comments on your page, send messages as the page, see which admin created a post or comment, create ads, and view insights.
If you set someone up as an Advertiser, they can see which admin created a post or comment, create ads, and view insights.
Lastly, if you set someone up as an Analyst, they can see which admin created a post or comment and view insights.
We are going to skip over the next four topics: “People and Other Pages”, “Apps”, “Preferred Page Audience” and “Instagram Ads”. These are options for advertising and more advanced dance moves.
So skip down to where it says, “Featured” and click on that tab. A box will pop up that looks like this:
You will notice the work “Likes” at the top. Essentially what this does is it allows you to “Like” other Facebook pages as your page. The best rule of thumb for setting this feature up is to try and “like” pages that you think your audience will like and/or find valuable. Of course, “Liking” other Facebook pages is a good thing to do! Just take the time to think about which pages you are liking because your audience will see it.
Under “Likes” is “Page Owner”. If you have some people that are going to be posting on your behalf you might decide to set them up as a “page owner”. This will allow their personal information to be publicly displayed in the “About” section of your page. Additionally, your page will be shown on their personal profile page.
*Remember: This is your business page so setting someone up as a “Page Owner” is not always the way to just because they are contributing to your page. You can always assign them as an admin or editor if they will be contributing to your page.
“Page Support” and “Activity Log” are fairly self explanatory. Check those out if you are interested but there is nothing for us to do under those tabs.
Next, if your business is a local business or place, you will be given the option to set up “Place Tips“. This is a feature that allows you to post your wi-fi information and a welcome message.
At this point, your Facebook Page creation is almost complete! Your cover image and profile logo are set. You have programmed all your settings! Soon you will be enjoying all your new connections.
The question now is, how are they going to connect with you? What do you want people to do when they come to your page? This is where the blue “Ad a Button” feature comes in.
Click on this button now:
This page will appear:
Next, click on the small gray arrow that points down, on the left, next to “Contact Us“. These choices will appear:
Depending on what your business is or where you want your audience to go you can choose from these options. For example, if your business is a brick and mortar location you might want them to “Call Now” or “Book Now“, if your business is a website you might want them to “Sign Up” for your email list or “Learn More” by taking them to your website. It is totally up to you where you want to send them. You will have choices to either ad a phone number, go to a website, send a message and so on depending on what button you choose to have displayed.
Whew! Let’s take a breath here. We have learned a lot of new moves today and I’m sure your head is totally swimming. But it is exciting don’t you think? So for the rest of the day, I want you to walk away from your Fabulous Facebook Page, put your feet up and totally relax because tomorrow the spotlight will be on YOU!
We are going to work on the who, what, where, when and why of your business. And that, my friends is coming up next……your “About” page.
I can’t wait to get you started on that!
